What is clc?

The Gilmer Christian Learning Center is a 501 (c) 3 non -profit Released Time Education ministry in Gilmer County that teaches courses in Bible to Public High School students and Middle School Students for free elective credit. The CLC is a ministry that receives no government support and is run by a six-person staff and a Board of Directors and supported by individuals, churches, and businesses in Gilmer County.

Released Time Education (RT) is a form of education in which students from public schools may receive religious education during the school day as long as classes are held off school campus, no public money is used to fund it and students receive parental permission to attend class. RT is legal, has a long standing history in the United States and has been tested to the highest level of the US Court System, the Supreme Court.

The goal of the CLC is to provide a comfortable yet challenging environment for the teens of Gilmer County to encounter God through Jesus Christ and respond to his purpose for their lives. At our main campus, we offer six high school classes grades 9th-12th grade. At our CCMS location, we offer six classes from grades 6th-8th grade.

The CLC also strives to be a healthy para-church ministry. 9 Marks Ministries has posted 9 Marks for healthy para-church ministry which include protecting the church, making a clear distinction between our ministry and the ministry of the church, having a biblical understanding of management and money, maintaining a firm commitment to the Gospel, and seeking a strong relationship to and accountability from the church. We are not the church, but have a specific function as an extension of the local church that can assist the local church in making disciples and proclaiming the Gospel. The CLC is fully funded by local individuals, businesses and area churches. Without their generous support, this ministry wouldn’t exist. Thank you to all those who support us through your prayers and financial giving. If you are interested in signing up for the monthly CLC newsletter, please let us know by contacting us here.
