23-24 CCMS Permission Form

Dear Parent or Guardian,

You are receiving this letter because your student is enrolled in a class at the Gilmer Christian Learning Center (CLC). This class is different in several ways from other classes at Clear Creek Middle School. The following are the three most significant differences:

The class is not held at CCMS, but at the Christian Learning Center located adjacent to CCMS’ property on Clear Creek School Drive. We provide transportation to he CLC in our own bus with certified drivers.
The subject matter presented in the class is from a Biblical perspective. Topics might include making wise choices, how to deal with friendship, respecting authority, media, etc. Each topic will be approached from a Christian perspective with the Bible as the standard.
At CLC, we offer snacks for sale. Snacks will be sold while students are at their desks with no contact. Items like chips, Slim Jims, Capri Sun’s can be purchased. Items range from $.25 to $1.25.

Your student will also participate in class discussions, presentations, group projects, watching various movies or video clips and voluntary prayer. A Bible will be provided for you student at no cost for their use during the course of the semester. If you would prefer they bring a Bible from home, we encourage this.

Upon completion of class requirements your student will receive credit for the class. The class counts as a free elective. We aren’t here to force our beliefs on anyone. We will have open discussions about the claims of the Bible and let each student make up their own mind about what they believe. We will respect the right of each student to hold their own view and insist that other students do the same.

If you are inclined to do so, we would invite you to join in praying for the students involved here at the CLC. Additionally, we would invite you to support the CLC with your tax-deductible contributions, which are our sole source of funding. God has transformed the lives of many students during their time at the CLC and we look forward to seeing what He has in store this nine weeks.

Many students have approached CLC staff to discuss personal matters. We at the CLC are perfectly willing to discuss these matters with your student, but we want you to understand that none of the CLC staff are trained or licensed as counselors. Understanding this, I give permission for my student to voluntarily discuss personal matters with CLC staff if he or she has the desire to do so. *

The CLC uses Google Classrooms which includes Google Meets. Google Classroom records all Google Meets conducted between the CLC teacher and students. These classes are recorded, and the information is retained for the access of the CLC only. Student names, information, pictures, or any private information will not be shared without the consent of a parent or guardian. Meets are recorded automatically and for the safety and protection of our students, staff, and the ministry of the CLC. *

Students can take CLC each quarter. If you would like for your student to take a CLC class for quarter 2, 3, and 4, please sign and date by the appropriate blank. This will give permission for the student to be put in the class and permission to take the class.-Quarter 4- Please sign and date
